In old times refrigeration didn't exist and people kept their foods cold by using blocks of ice. So that ice delivery was a very good job and with many requests. Addy's father is a driver on one of the ice wagons and he is often taking Addy with him when he does his deliveries so that he can learn the job. It's a hot summer day and this is very dangerous for them as in the heat the ice will melt and if they don't deliver the ice in good conditions they will lose a lot of money.
